The Twelve Days of Christmas in Song wishes you a very Happy Christmas Day. Nadolig Llawen!
The Denbigh and District Male Voice Choir wishes all our readers and followers a very Happy Christmas Day.
Our entire Gala Concert at St Mary’s, Denbigh, on November 25th was recorded on video.
A very good idea, I hear you say.
But what does one do with the filmed material?
Presenting the songs singly, on successive days, as ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas in Song’ is one of the outcomes. We hope you approve.
And so, here’s the first offering, ‘Y Ddau Wladgarwr.’
This song is a firm favourite with the choir as a concert opener. Our audiences also approve.
‘Y Ddau Wladgarwr’ translates into The Two Patriots. This fervent, patriotic duet for tenor and bass voices was composed by Joseph Parry.
It’s about pride in nationalistic values of freedom, rejecting violence and treason.
This popular choral arrangement is by Colin Jones, the well-respected choral conductor from north Wales.
The Second Song Tomorrow
We also hope you’ll ‘tune-in’ again tomorrow for the second song.
It’s a Maori slumber song called ‘Hine E Hine’.
And it’s just the tonic if you need to take it easy after over indulging on the christmas pudding.
From a Christmas Cracker:
What do you call a line of men waiting for a haircut?
A barberqueue!
