Denbigh choir members are remembered for their immense contribution to the success and proud reputation of the choir. One valued member, however, is welcomed back.
Denbigh Choir Members Remembered
Whilst 2023 had many causes for celebration, it also had occasions of emotional reflection when we were informed of the passing of former choir members.

Arthur Stanley Jones (2nd Bass), Tom Prytherch (1st Bass) and Ray ‘Tatws’ Jones (1st Tenor) were all long standing and dedicated members of the choir.
Ray Jones was always full of pranks and, in the photo, to dispel any doubt, he is wearing a wig!
All three had their own unique characters which contributed to the rich tapestry of choir life. Whilst ill health prevented them from attending choir duties in later life they still held the choir with much affection.
We thank you and remember you for your excellent service to the choir. May you Rest In Peace.
Remembering Nia Jones’ Past Service
Nia Mary Jones was the choir’s Accompanist between 2016 and 2021. Following the covid pandemic Nia felt unable to return to choir duties.
Moreover, the choir felt that she deserved recognition for her previous service of undoubted talent and unfailing devotion.
On Tuesday 5th December 2023, Nia was again welcomed to our practice for a celebration of her loyal, dedicated and professional service to the choir.
Presentations to Nia Jones
She was presented with a personalised dish made by Steve Tootell, 2nd Tenor, of Appletree Studios, Brookhouse, Denbigh.
She also received an individual glass creation, with a musical and choir theme, made by one of our 1st Bass, Gronwy Wynne.

Presentation to Nia Jones
Old habits die hard, and Nia had to take to the piano to accompany the singing of Happy Birthday to choir members Steve Tootell and James Wakeham. Some things never change!
Thank you again, Nia, for all that you did for Denbigh & District Male Voice Choir. Your sunny personality, sense of humour and sheer professionalism was much loved.
You are a big part of the choir’s rich history and helped shape us into the respected choir that we are today.
We all wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Choir Appoints New President
Following the resignation of our former President, Caryl Parry Jones, due to work and family commitments the post had remained vacant.

Nia Wyn Jones,
New Choir President
On Tuesday 5th December 2023, the choir was pleased to unanimously appoint a new Choir President, Nia Wyn Jones.
Devotees and followers of the choir will recall that Nia has a long connection with the choir, previously having been both our Deputy Musical Director and Musical Director.
In 2005, whilst Deputy Musical Director, Nia wielded the Baton for us at what was probably one of the choir’s most exciting and memorable performance at ‘The Glory of Wales’ concert in the grounds of the old Howells School. Her talent was obvious and ensured that the choir received excellent reviews for their performance.

It was no surprise, therefore, that Nia subsequently became the natural choice to be our full time Musical Director. However, her reign was sadly cut short.
We, therefore, welcome you Nia, as our new Choir President. You were the obvious choice.
We hope that you enjoy your new post with us and look forward to working with you for many years to come. As you already know, the posts of President and Vice-President are not just figureheads, but active and hands-on.
The pay isn’t very good ( well, to be truthful it’s non-existent) but the job satisfaction is second to none. Welcome on board!!
Seasons Greetings

With all Best Wishes from Denbigh and District Male Voice Choir
