Nia Wyn Jones returns to the Denbigh and District Male Voice Choir as Music Director. It is now well over a decade since Nia was Assistant Music Director. There’s an old saying that it’s unwise to go back. Nia Wyn Jones’ return has dismissed that myth with vitality and musical vigour.

Nia Wyn Jones,
Musical Director.
Nia Wyn Jones returns to the familiar Eirianfa Community Centre, the Rehearsal Choir Room on a Tuesday evening. After only two practice sessions it is evident that this partnership is going to reap rich rewards for the choir.
Nia’s enthusiasm and energy has infused the choir with laughter and self belief. Her guidance on voice production is inspiring.
Her musical and lyrical interpretation is an enjoyable learning experience for all the choir members.
Nia Wyn Jones Returns to Endorsement
Steve Tootell, a relatively new member, describes Nia’s impact on the choir:
“I have spent my professional life working closely with European and US leading choral directors on my high school creative arts teaching teams. Tonight, I saw another great talent and was very inspired.
This was a REAL rehearsal with warm up, for a first time session, perfect.
I am excited, I could feel the buzz in the room. I think we are going to grow moving forward.”

Nia Wyn Jones Returns as Music Director
Clearly, Nia’s appointment has energised the choir. New members increase on a weekly basis.
Choir chairman, Paul Harrison states “Excellent practice again tonight. Another two new prospective members joining us, in addition to three new members last week.”
Choir member, Gron Wynne, on the other hand, delves back into the choir archives to recall Nia’s previous performances with the choir.
Nia Wyn Jones Conductor Debut

Gron Wynne
Côr Meibion Dinbych a’r Cylch had a very special occasion last Tuesday (2004) at St. John’s Church, Llandudno. The last concert of the summer season at St John’s.
It was also the first concert to be conducted by deputy musical director, Nia Wyn Jones.
Audience and choir all agreed that this was an extremely enjoyable and very successful debut performance by Nia and look forward to future concerts with her.
She will take charge again this Friday for a performance at a private function at St George’s Hotel Llandudno.

Nia Wyn Jones Returns in Concert
Furthermore, the first public performance of the choir, under the direction of Nia Wyn Jones, as Music Director, will be at Denbigh Town Hall, on Saturday, February 29th, 2020 at 7:30pm.
This is the Mayor’s Charity Concert.
Please come and support this worthy event and show Nia Wyn Jones and the choir your appreciation.
Footnote: Due to a variety of personal reasons Nia could not continue in her role and resigned in 2021.
She is thanked for her dynamism and making rehearsals so enjoyable.
She is wished every success in the future.
Great news! Hope it’s a great success!
I’d love to make a suggestion for “Wanderin’ Star” by Lee Marvin? I think the sound and harmony would be just fantastic for the choir to sing.
Thank you Ian for your positive response, good wishes and suggestion.
