Joyce Davies retires as accompanist to the choir on May 24, 2016. She received many tributes and presentations of appreciation.
Joyce Davies Retires
The mood of the choir was a sombre one when Joyce told us eight months ago that she intended to retire. The reasons are understandable.
After nine and a half years the weekly journey from Oswestry to Denbigh, and beyond, became harder and less enjoyable.
In addition, it also means that husband Aubrey will cease being a member of the second bass section.
Aubrey is also the Choir Treasurer. His financial wisdom and expertise always appreciated.
The choir’s summer concerts at St John’s Church Llandudno are demanding. This consisted of a round trip of 140 miles. An inevitable late arrival home at the end of the concert.
That is a certain example of commitment and dedication.
Joyce Davies Presentations
Chairman Phil Taylor said that you could always rely on Joyce. Her diligence and expertise always valued and much appreciated.
Musical Director Arwyn Roberts said that it had been a joy to work with Joyce. She was his right and left hand support in all choir matters. Always ready to assist with all choral matters.
Diolch o galon.
Joyce received gifts of jewellery and a bouquet of flowers.
A magnificent cake, with piano motifs, was made by Morfydd Davies. This was soon devoured by choir members.
In conclusion, enjoy your well-deserved rest.
Thank you both for years of continuous hard work and dedication.
But it’s not a final goodbye ! Joyce has agreed to play at three future choir engagements during the coming months.
You can see more photos of the presentation in the website Gallery.
P.S. The choir has appointed Nia Mary Jones as a replacement for Joyce.
