Introducing Nia Jones, our new accompanist. She was appointed unanimously by the Choir Committee on March 22, 2016.
Nia is from Marli, near St Asaph, but lives in Corwen since marrying Rhys, almost 20 years ago. They have two children.
She is a primary school teacher by profession.
Nia Jones and her Music
She studied at both Glyndwr and Bangor Universities. She posesses a Diploma in Piano Performance (Dip ABRSM).
Her achievements include accompanying primary school groups in various rounds of the Eisteddfod.
Also she has experience with two choral groups.
The Sinan Singers are attached to All Saints Church in the Parish of Cefn.
Côr Merched Edeyrnion is a reputable, experienced and much travelled Corwen based Ladies Choir.
Nia, therefore, is no stranger to the world of choral singing and performance.
A busy full time teacher, wife and mother Nia still finds time for many hobbies. She enjoys looking after and riding her three ponies.
Gardening, reading and sewing are other pastimes to enjoy.
Not to mention her interest and love of music.
Nia Jones and her New Choir
Nia has been attending our choir practice for the last three weeks. During that time, her ability and expertise as an accompanist stood out.
She has adapted to Arwyn Roberts‘ style of conducting with ease.
As well as a ready smile Nia has a good sense of humour. Qualities that will hold her in good stead in a male voice choir setting.
When asked for details for her biography Nia said “It sounds like an introduction for a game show !!”
That sense of humour will be invaluable.
Of course, the entire choir looks forward to enjoying Nia’s company over the coming years. It’s an integral part of the ‘choir family’.
In summary, Nia will not have to wait long for her debut as our accompanist.
On Friday 15th April, 2016 at 7.30pm. she will join the choir in our concert at Llanrhaeadr Church, near Denbigh.
The proceeds are in aid of St Kentigern’s Hospice.
Footnote: In 2021, due to personal reasons, Nia was unable to continue as our accompanist. We thank her for her commitment and dedication during her time with the choir.
