The idyllic, rural charm of St Berre’s Church at Llanferres was pretty as a picture. It was the perfect wedding location for Elisabeth Ann Hunt and Patrick Andrew Gomm.
Perfect Wedding Location
Outside the sun was shining. Hens were scratching and foraging in the churchyard.
The interior of the small, intimate church generated its own warmth. The scene was set. A sense of great anticipation was all around.
Choir Entertains Arriving Guests
The choir sang a selection of requested Welsh and English songs for the arriving guests. They showed their appreciation after every song.
Our conductor, Arwyn Roberts, encouraged us to use the wonderful acoustics. It made singing there a real pleasure.
Baritone Peter Davies was in fine voice with his ever popular rendition of ‘[easyazon_link asin=”B00JS24QE2″ locale=”UK” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”denanddismalv-21″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]You Raise Me Up[/easyazon_link].’ It was very well received.
Arrival of the Bride
To the sound of the emotional ‘[easyazon_link asin=”B0062JNS7A” locale=”UK” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”denanddismalv-21″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]A Thousand Years[/easyazon_link]’ by Christina Perri [easyazon_link asin=”B0062JNS7A” locale=”UK” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”denanddismalv-21″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”][/easyazon_link] it was time for the arrival of the positively stunning Elisabeth.
Moreover, Patrick could not resist the temptation to keep looking down the aisle. The arrival of his beautiful bride got nearer and nearer. The tissues were already in abundant use by the congregation.
The Rev Adrian Copping welcomed everyone to the church. He invited the congregation to sing the first hymn ‘Here I am Lord.’
Arwyn, our conductor, had prepared us on practice nights to make sure that we made our presence felt.
Natasha Gunning gave us the first reading. The often quoted 1 Corinthians 13 – ‘faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.’
The Marriage Service
This was the theme taken up by the Rev Adrian Copping during the marriage service. Lisabeth and Patrick delivered their vows with reverence and feeling. Lisabeth admitted afterwards that she thought she was going to faint!
The exchange of wedding rings then provided the congregation with a light-hearted moment. Lisabeth said, “it doesn’t fit.”
Furthermore, the second reading provided a real sense of drama. Young Jack Gomm, had suffered an accident the previous day. Striding on his crutches with confidence to the pulpit to read a fine piece of prose by A. A. Milne.
The hymn ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ was appropriate for this perfect wedding location.
The Blessing followed.
Signing the Register
During the signing of the Register the choir sang the much requested [easyazon_link asin=”B00JS24EZ8″ locale=”UK” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”denanddismalv-21″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]The Rose. [/easyazon_link] Peter Davies again hitting all the right notes with the second verse solo.
This was followed by the ever popular ‘Calon Lan.’
The choir’s rousing rendition of ‘Amen’ created a joyful atmosphere.
The newlyweds then led the hand-clapping and joyous congregation out of the church.
In conclusion, the choir would like to thank Mr and Mrs Gomm for the invitation to be part of your joyous day.
We wish you every future happiness together.
