Mark Young has, for over a decade, become a prominent and popular figure within the Denbigh community. In accepting our invitation, he said, “it is a very great pleasure to become Denbigh Choir Vice President.”

By trade, Mark is a “time served” joiner. This enabled him to work in management in the construction industry. It enabled him to travel both nationally and internationally.
In his younger (and, he confesses, slimmer days!) he competed in County and National Athletics for over 10 years.
He was also a school boy boxing champion.
Mark’s family originate from Anglesey, Bangor and Wrexham.
After marrying Mary, a Londoner, they moved to the Vale of Clwyd in 2000, which afforded many life changing opportunities.
Mark Young and Music
In 2001 the national eisteddfod came to Denbigh town.
Mark accepted an invitation from new friends to go along to see an ‘amazing concert by Sir Bryn Terfel.’

Not coming from a musical background, this event ultimately changed his life with regard to music.
Since then, Mark has attended concerts and supported Denbigh Male Voice Choir.
He also attends the North Wales Music Festival, the Urdd Eisteddfod, and the National Eisteddfod regularly.
It is through this positive experience, he met his very dear friends, Dai Bryn (D.B. Jones), Clwyd Wynne and Dafydd Lloyd Jones. The rest, of course, is history!!

In 2009 Mark and Mary opened their dearly loved shop, Denbigh Chocolate Shop.
Furthermore, founded appropriately on World Chocolate Day. This continues to be a well-loved part of the Denbigh community.
Commitment to Community
Mark Young is also a town councillor and keeps actively involved with all local concerns.
Moreover, he was delighted when he was elected as County Councillor for Denbigh Lower in 2016. He was re elected for a full term in 2017.
Also, along with these positions, he involves himself with voluntary work; Trustee and Director of Mind – Vale of Clwyd Mind, the mental health charity, Chair of Denbigh Youth Project, HWB Dinbych, and Vice Chair of Denbigh High School Governors.

In conclusion, it is pleasing that this affable and energising popular character is now one of our vice presidents.
