Choir camaraderie has been a consistent feature of this year’s choir engagement diary.
First, it was our St David’s Day Concert with Llangwm MVC at Shrewsbury. Then the successful visit of Avon & Somerset Constabulary MVC to north Wales.
Choir Camaraderie Continues
The choir camaraderie continues. We now await our joint concert with Wetley Rocks MVC.
This is part of their 40th anniversary celebrations.
The invitation to unite with Wetley Rocks MVC arose out of a chance meeting. It was at one of our concerts in St John’s Church, Llandudno, during the summer of 2014.
The following account is kindly provided by Wetley Rocks MVC choir member, John Giddings:
“On a summers evening in 2014, my good friend Dave Lycett and I attended a concert. Denbigh and District Male Voice Choir at St John’s Church, Llandudno.
At the end of an excellent concert, Dave and I joined the choir to sing ‘Cwm Rhondda.’
A friendly chat followed with choir members, Paul Harrison and Musical Director, Arwyn Roberts.
Dave and I are both members of Wetley Rocks Male Voice Choir. As a choir we have presented several successful joint concerts.
Joint Choir Celebration Concert
It occurred to me that the Denbigh choir would be ideal partners. To help us celebrate our 40th anniversary in 2015.
We are glad that our invitation is now accepted. Arrangements for the concert are well in hand.
It will take place in Leek, Staffordshire on 3rd October at All Saints Church.
The Musical Directors, Ian Jones and Arwyn Roberts, are discussing the concert musical programme.
In particular, the songs for the combined choirs at the finale.
All choristers have a love of singing. There is nothing more enjoyable than sharing the stage with another choir.
The display of choir camaraderie by fellow choristers is meaningful and valued.
Dave and I revisited Llandudno recently. Again we heard the Denbigh choir in fine voice at St John’s. The welcome warm as before.
We look forward to extending a special welcome to our visitors. Hoping that the choir camaraderie continues for a long time.
A happy future relationship with the Denbigh and District Male Voice Choir is wished for.”
Denbigh and District Male Voice Choir endorse the sentiments and appreciate the invitation.
