Wedding of Lowri and Richard
An air of secrecy surrounded the arrival of choir members at the Vale Country Club.
We waited in the locker rooms for the wedding service to be completed. We are the surprise package.
When Lowri and Richard and guests entered the dining area we started singing ‘Calon Lan’.
The response was vociferous and joyous.
Our singing attracted more guests to come through to the attractively decorated dining room.
Lowri and Richard at Choir Practice
Lowri and Richard came to one of our choir practices and selected the songs they wanted us to perform on their wedding day.
Their choice inspirational. Each one of our songs well received by the enthusiastic guests.
A variety of Welsh songs such as ‘Y Ddau Wladgarwr’, ‘Cadwyn Cymreig’, ‘O Gymru’ and popular English repertoire such as ‘The Rose’, ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘African Prayer’.
It was also a pleasure to have the guests join in with the rousing chorus of ‘Sospan Fach’.
Of course, we duly obliged with a spontaneous request to sing ‘I bob un sy’n ffyddlon’. With full audience participation.
Moreover, our conductor, Arwyn Roberts leading an extra chorus for good measure.
Lowri and Richard Cricket Connection
Lowri from Cefn Meiriadog, met Richard whilst studying at De Montfort University, Leicester.
Richard, from Hinckley, played cricket for Sapcote Cricket Club and, in addition, Lowri became their official scorer.
‘Howzat for a good catch?’
Richard, in familiar cricket parlance, ‘bowled a maiden over’.
In fact, their love and happiness could be seen in abundance at the Vale Country Club.
In conclusion, thank you for inviting the choir to share in the happiness of your day.
Furthermore, we wish you every future happiness together.
