Saturday, 22nd July, 2017 saw the choir once again return to Pentre Mawr Country House, near Llandyrnog, for the perfect wedding of Alex and Kate.
Perfect venue
Pentre Mawr Country House near Llandyrnog in Denbighshire is quite familiar to the choir by now.
It’s setting in the stunning Vale of Clwyd makes it the ideal venue for a country house wedding.
Perfect weather
Twelve months ago the choir were at the venue performing under a gazebo in the pouring rain.
Fortunately, on this occasion the venue was bathed in glorious sunshine.
Choir performs at Wedding of Alex and Kate
Guests had assembled by 1.30pm and the choir started their performance with ‘Y Ddau Wladgarwr’, and ‘Hine e Hine’.
It was going to be difficult to perform due to a very persistent wasp, determined to visit and annoy every chorister.
Furthermore, the chorister’s hand waving at the wasp had Arwyn Roberts, the M.D., very confused. Talk about role reversal.
The programme continued with favourites ‘Get me to the Church on time’, ‘Iechyd Da’ and ‘Some Enchanted Evening’.
The ‘Welsh Trilogy’ of Ar Hyd y Nos, Dafydd Y Garreg Wen and Sospan Fach was met with immediate applause.
Kate had requested ‘The Rose’ during her entrance.
The choir duly obliged, with Peter Davies’ solo being exceptional.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Kate’s brother sang ‘I can’t help falling in love with you’. The choir joined in to very appreciative applause.
Following the choir singing the spiritual ‘Amen’, Kate and Alex walked down the aisle together. The choir sang ‘Pokarekare ana’, a Maori tune to the words of ‘Calon Lan’. At least one bridesmaid was singing along with the choir.
Thank you
We would like to thank Kate and Alex for the very kind invitation for the choir to perform at their wedding. We wish you both a long and happy life together.
Finally, I think this couple who were also at Pentre Mawr that day are sending their best wishes too!
