The Twelve days of Christmas in Song – Day 4 continues.
We continue our song a day with ‘You Raise Me Up’, a contemporary and popular song.
Lyrics and music by Brendan Graham and Rolf Lovland, a Norwegian-Irish duo.
At one time they were associated with the musical group ‘Secret Garden’.
Also, it is no surprise that the song is covered by over a hundred other artists.
The list includes Russell Watson and Josh Groban, whose version in 2003 became a hit in the United States.
You Raise Me Up to Top of the Charts
The popular Irish band Westlife then achieved top of the chart success in the UK.
“You Raise Me Up” is also sung as a hymn in many church services.
Baritone, Peter Davies, sings the powerful solo in the second verse. This song is on our CD, ‘Voices from the Vale’, and available from the website shop.
From a Christmas Cracker:
What did Adam say the day before Christmas?
