Saturday, 2nd August 2014, a wedding to perform at, and when we arrived it was yes, you guessed it, RAINING! We really thought the choir was becoming a jinx when we arrived at St Marcella’s Church, Whitchurch for Leanne and Andrew’s wedding. The third wedding engagement in a row where it was raining.
Fotunately, the weather became much kinder and ended up as glorious sunshine which made for a happy wedding day.
I’m sure that as the weather improved, with sunshine beaming in through the church windows, the choir’s singing improved in equal measure.
Happy Wedding Day
What a happy occasion the service was. Performing for the assembling guests was so rewarding, not only by the applause from the very responsive congregation, but by the smiles on almost everyone’s faces.
I would like to extend an invitation to the group of four young men who were sitting in the middle of the church to come and join the choir.
Their clear enthusiasm when joining in with ‘Sospan Fach‘ did not go unnoticed. You clearly enjoyed it, but just think how much more you would enjoy it singing regularly with the choir.
I am informed, by a very reliable source (Alan), that your singing continued in the very late hours at an unidentified Kebab Shop in Wrexham. You also even persuaded passers by to join in the singing! Good on you!
Whilst we are on the subject, I’m also informed that Leanne’s Gran, who I believe is 97, was also singing along with us.
I’m sorry Gran, but I can’t extend the joining invitation to you. I will pass your details on to Denbigh Choral Society, a mixed choir, though.
Happy Wedding Day Highlights
That beginning really set the tone for what was to follow, a really happy wedding day and celebration.
I won’t say anymore, but instead invite you to have a look for youselves by clicking on the video footage below.
Happy Wedding Day Highlights
Leanne and Andrew, thank you for the privilege of inviting us to sing at your happy wedding day and for allowing us to be a part of such a happy event. We hope we served you well.
Perhaps I should also say that it was really kind of Andrew to come back into the church at the end of the service, personally shake every choir member’s hand and express his thanks.

I just wanted to say what an amazing addition to the wedding day the Choir were, you were absolutley fantastic. I love the above video and have watched it many times already – and when thinking back on my big brother and new sister-in-laws beautiful wedding day – it’s certaintly sound-tracked by the incredible sounds of the Denbigh Male Voice Choir; so moving, emotional and talented. Many thanks, Emma Lewis.
