It is with very profound sadness and regret that we have learned of the passing of the choir’s Vice-President, Councillor Raymond Bartley.
Long and happy choir association

Councillor Raymond Bartley
Raymond has been associated with, and a true friend of, Denbigh Male Voice Choir for many, many years. His loyal and active support has been so greatly valued by us all.
He deemed it a very great honour to have been elected as our Vice-President in 2014. He was pleased to be joining in office his life-long friend, the late Gwyn Dryhurst-Dodd, our President at that time.
Nothing too much trouble
Since his election as Vice-President it has been both a pleasure and privilege to have regularly called on Raymond’s services.
Nothing was too much trouble for him, even when the request was made at very short notice. Raymond Bartley was absolutely dependable and carried out his choir duties with dignity, humour and honesty.

One of Raymond’s first major duties for the choir, was to both welcome and thank the Avon & Somerset Constabulary Male Voice Choir for our Joint Concert weekend in June 2015.
His last engagement was to draw the Choir’s Annual Raffle at the end of November 2016.
Raymond Bartley Civic Duties
Of course, Raymond was not only our Vice-President. He was both a Denbigh Town Councillor and a member of Denbighshire County Council for very many years.
He was widely recognised, not least by having been chosen as the Mayor of Denbigh and the Town’s First Citizen, on no less than five occasions. A very great honour.

A more detailed tribute to Raymond will be published in due course. In the meantime, the choir extends its deepest condolences and sympathy to Dorothy and family at this very sad time. Our thoughts are with you and our hearts go out to you.
Raymond Bartley will be greatly missed by us all.

Hello Pat. Thanks for your kind comment. Raymond will undoubtedly be missed very much. He was such a stalwart of the community. A true Denbighite who gave back so much to the community he served.
