Hot summer weather all week, ideal for weddings, but on Saturday 19th July 2014 it didn’t just rain, it poured.
The weather, however, could not spoil the happy occasion of the Blessing of the Wedding of Daniel and Samantha Galloway.
St Margaret’s Church, Bodelwyddan, better known as ‘The Marble Church’, was the perfect setting for the service.
The weather caused a little apprehension for the choir. We had rehearsed a unique finale for the wedding ceremony. But it entailed us performing two songs outside the church. Fingers crossed!
Knowing that we do not like to let people down, most choristers had sensibly brought the largest golf umbrellas they could find, just in case!
The choir entertained the guests before the arrival of the happy couple. First tenor, Phil Taylor, used the acoustics of the church to perfection when performing the first verse solo of ‘Plaisir D’amour’.
Not to be outdone, Richard Lloyd was next to shine with his solo in ‘O Gymru’.
On being informed that Daniel and Samantha had arrived, the choir sang ‘Panis Angelicus.’ In the church setting it was very well received.
Samantha had requested the choir to perform ‘The Rose’ for her entrance into the church. Baritone, Peter Davies, was in fine voice for the second verse solo.
Wedding of Daniel and Samantha
During the wedding service the choir and congregation joined together singing the hymns, ‘Morning has Broken’; ‘Lord of The Dance’ and ‘Give Me Joy in my Heart’.
All too soon the service was over. Unfortunately, the weather had not improved. This resulted in a change to the planned finale.
By special request the choir led Daniel and Samantha down the church aisle whilst singing ‘Calon Lan.‘ It ended by the choir forming a Guard of Honour for them just inside the church doors.
Denbigh & District Male Voice Choir would like to wish Daniel and Samantha a very long and happy married life together. Filled with ‘joy in their hearts’ and also filled with sunshine.
Thank you both for inviting us to be a part of your special wedding blessing service.

Having the choir performing and joining in with the hymns made it a very moving and special wedding blessing service for us.
All our guests commented on how wonderful the choir sounded.
We never imagined how overwhelming we would feel hearing the choir sing at our wedding and in such a beautiful church too.
It truly was a very special and very memorable day thanks to the choir! X
