The song ‘We’ll Keep a Welcome in the Hillside’, belongs to Wales. In particular to the community of Dolfor, Powys.
What a welcome the choir had on Saturday 18th October 2014, when we travelled to Dolfor. The concert was in aid of Wales Air Ambulance.
Wales Air Ambulance Concert
The local community centre proved a good venue in which to sing. The welcome from the audience made it special.
Support given by the local party, Llanbadarn Girls.

Back; Katie Fairclough, Jodie Price, MD Andrew Thomas, Katie Price,
Front: Annie Fairclough, Frances Jones, Ffion Price
The girls have developed quite a musical reputation. It was easy to see why. For such a young group they have become accomplished performers with a good blend of voices.
The concert for Wales Air Ambulance was well supported with a full house. The choir appreciated the receptive audience. It makes singing so much easier!
The choir started with ‘Y Ddau Wladgarwr‘, ‘Hine e Hine’, ‘You Raise Me Up’ and ‘Sirioldeb.’

It was then the turn of Llanbadarn Girls to take to the stage. They delivered an entertaining selection of songs, which included ‘The Rose’. The applause showed that the choir and audience alike enjoyed their performance.
The Choir returned with their second set and closed the first half with ‘Yn Y Man.‘
During the interval the raffle and bucket collection raised monies for Wales Air Ambulance.
The choir returned to start the second half.
Geraint Roberts was in fine voice for our opening song, ‘When The Roll is Called Up Yonder.’
Llanbadarn Girls returned and performed their second set. They had everybody joining in the singing of ‘Edelweiss’. There was also a lovely solo performance of ‘Calon Lan‘ and a finale of ‘A Cappela.’
The choir returned for their final set. This included the choir’s version of ‘The Rose’ and closing the concert with our signature tune, ‘[easyazon_link asin=”B00JS24I72″ locale=”UK” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”denanddismalv-21″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]Craig Yr Oesoedd.[/easyazon_link]’ Arwyn Roberts, our MD, performing the solo.
All too soon the concert was over and I think it left everybody wanting more, the choir included.
Choir Express Thanks for Hospitality
What followed next was ‘ the feeding of the five thousand.’ The ladies had put on a magnificent spread of food.
They must have thought they were feeding the ‘1,000 voices’ from the Royal Albert Hall in London. Thank you so much ladies.
A short journey took us to Newtown. The Elephant & Castle Hotel was the venue for our second short concert of the night. Some liquid refreshment was partaken to assist with the singing.
The choir would like to thank the organisers for the kind invitation to perform the concert. We enjoyed it, and hope that we have a return visit in the future.
It was a pleasure for us to once again support such a worthy cause as the Wales Air Ambulance.
Footnote: The proceeds of the Concert raised £885.00 for Wales Air Ambulance.
Thank you Dolfor!
