Gareth Malone’s enjoyable television series ‘The Choir: Gareth’s Best in Britain’ has ended. Moreover, choral singing is again back in the television limelight.
Gareth Malone went uphill and down dale to find Britain’s most entertaining amateur choir.
Travelling from Scotland to the Isle of Wight, arranging and auditioning four regional areas.
Additionally, this series followed last year’s successful The Naked Choir with Gareth Malone.
As a result, Gareth auditioned groups from all musical traditions. Gospel groups, school choirs, sea shanty bands and university students. Each choir sharing a passion for music and a chance for television fame.
Gareth’s inspirational guidance and advice in evidence throughout the series. Particularly, words of encouragement for the choirs not selected for the final stages.
Gareth Malone Best in Britain Final
The well produced tense final episode, held before a large audience in Central Hall, Westminster, London.
Three choirs appeared, The Bulmershe School Ensemble, gospel group E.A.G.A., and Semi-Toned.
Improvement was so evident in all three choirs. Dedication and hard work with the mentors resulted in polished performances.
The eventual winners were Semi-Toned. A male a cappella group from the University of Exeter.
They thrilled the audience with their versions of ‘Anthem of Praise,’ and ‘Senorita’.
Furthermore, they receive the honorary title of Britain’s most entertaining amateur choir.
Gareth Malone, now becoming a national treasure, said of his latest series:
