The choir Annual Dinner, held once again at the Brookhouse Mill, Denbigh, provided a convivial evening with fine food and frolics.
After a varied and successful year for the choir it is pleasing and appropriate for choir members, guests, family and friends to spend quality time together.
The Brookhouse Mill staff attentive and efficient. The meal, in a word, was delicious.
Special thanks to Dafydd Lloyd Jones and his wife Wendy for planning the evening so efficiently.
Members brought items for the Raffle. The response was overwhelming.
In order to speed up the raffle process the prizes awarded rather than chosen.
Winners sometimes won the very prize that they had donated. Gron and Clwyd Wynne became our version of the Chuckle Brothers. Their ‘To me, To You’ routine perfected with prizes exchanged and eventually accepted.
Choir Annual Dinner Merriment
Clwyd Wynne once again performed the compere duties with style. He dutifully cajoled after-dinner performances from a number of choir members.
Peter Davies started the merriment with a host of humorous signs and notices seen in foreign places.
At a Dry cleaner’s in Bangkok:
Drop your trousers here for the best results!
Arwyn Roberts continued in a similar fashion. Using one-liners about occupational and advertising matters. Arwyn delivered the punch-line with telling authority.
‘Don’t sleep with a drip, call our experienced plumber!’
Paul Denney, from memory, delivered a demanding and humorous monologue. There are still many performances to come from this talented thespian.
The Christmas theme highlighted by Mike Baines who recalled a whimsical poem by Rufus Hound on a recent Countdown TV programme.
Choir Annual Dinner Votes of Thanks
The choir vice presidents, Medwyn Jones and Mark Young, gave inspiring, impromptu votes of thanks and congratulations to the choir.
The successful and enjoyable evening concluded by choir chairman, Paul Harrison. Thanks to all the ‘unsung heroes’ of the choir for ensuring the proverbial wheels are oiled and kept in good running order.
